What a Beautiful World….

The end-wall mural in the concourse at CUT

The world mosaic at the far end of the concourse was sadly too large to be moved, and was consequently destroyed when that part of the building was demolished. The United States features prominently, partly because it’s hard to get to other continents by train (right?) and also due to the time frame in which the building was constructed.

The remaining mosaics, like the one you can see here on the left facing wall, were moved to the Greater Cincinnati Airport so they could still be viewed by the public – a great idea, until some of them, too, have been “hidden” from the public due to alterations in the airport’s configuration after 9/11 and subsequent changes in Delta’s services there.

I recently flew Delta to San Antonio (April of 2011)…If you enter the Delta Departure Concourse and head left from the doors you’ll find the same mural shown on the left side of this picture! Its definitely worth taking a close look at the mural because it will lead you to tables and a scale that you can use to make sure you avoid those pesky fees for overweight baggage… I used it as a meeting place for my group as they were dropped off at the airport.
